How are health scores calculated:

Health scores are calculated by comparing individual biomarkers with reference values. Together, the lower and upper reference values are called the “reference range”. Depending on where a biomarker falls within a given reference range, it will be given a colour:

• When the value for a biomarker is within the acceptable zone of the reference range, it is given a blue colour and labeled “optimal”.
• When the value for a biomarker falls towards the lower or upper limit of the reference range, it is given a yellow colour and labeled “borderline”
• When the value for a biomarker is significantly outside of the reference range, it is given a red colour and labeled “out of range”. 

Each health area in a Molecular You report is made up of one or more biomarker associations. A score of 100 for a given health area means that all biomarkers associated with a health area are blue (“optimal”). Red (“out of range”) and yellow (“borderline”) markers are weighted differently according to our algorithms, and each red or yellow marker contributes to a lower health score for each health areas associated with that marker.
